Studies on the Yokogawa¡¯s Fluke Metagonimus yokogawai(Katsurada, 1912) in Korea : ¥°. Geographical Distribution of Sweet fish and Their Infection Status with Metagonimus Metacercaria in Gang-Woen Do
Song Chul-Yong

Abstract
The present survey was undertaken to observe the geographical distribution of metacercaria among the sweet fish, Plecoglossus allivelis, the most important second intermediate host of metagonimus yokogawai, which were collected in the Eastern areas of Gang-Woen Do (=Province), Korea. The results obtained were summarized as follows: (1) The collected number of metacercariae per fish host were checked, And it was revealed that 78(54.2%) fish out of 114 fish showed positive to the metacercarial infection of M. yokogawai. The number of metacercariae in a fish ranged from 0 to 1,982 and the mean of the metacercariae in a fish were 57.1. (2) The rates of infection differed from stream to stream showing 93.35% in 0-sib Cheon (=stream), 80.0% in Guag-Cheon, 77.8% in Jeon-Cheon, 75.0% in Maub-Cheon, 66.7% in Hosan-Cheon, 11.1% in Sa-Cheon and 6.3% in Suju-Cheon by order of decrease in the infection rates. And no metacercarial infections in their fish host were found in the areas of Songhyeon-Cheon, Bug-Cheon, Ssang-Cheon and Yeongok-Cheon. It would be considered that variety of snails as a the first intermediate hosts, and the prevalence of the infection among inhabitants should also be studied to demonstrate its epidemiological patterns more precisely.
